Beginner Guide for MATLAB Simulink and FAST

Respected Dr. Jonkman,
Thankyou so much for your input.
I found that the ServoDyn folder was not present in my downloaded format of OC3_Spar_linear and that was the reason I was not able to obtain the results.
I used “CompServo” for the other compliant structures where ServoDyn folder was present and I obtained the results for the structural responses with and without structural control.

Thankyou so much for your valuable input. I will now be focusing on understanding TMD and TLCD controls for the complaint structures in the OpenFAST software.

thankyou and regards,
Shreyasee Sanjay

Respected Dr. Jonkman,
Hope you are doing well.

I had one query regarding the ServoDyn File in the r-test examples 5MW_OC3Spar_Linear and 5MW_OC3Mnpl. Both of these do not have the ServoDyn File enabled.

I request your kind input on how the following:

  1. Can the program files for ServoDyn be generated as the other test examples…?? will copying and pasting the other test examples’ ServoDyn file and changing various parameters according to the structure help.??
  2. Is there an input file else where…?? I could not find it in GitHub and the documentation.
  3. How will I be able to modify the r-test examples so as to enable ServoDyn and Structural controls…?

Thankyou and regards,
Shreyasee Sanjay

Dear @Shreyasee.Sanjay,

There are OpenFAST models of the NREL 5-MW baseline wind turbine atop the OC3-Hywind spar and OC3-Monopile that due have ServoDyn enabledin the OpenFAST r-test. These are 5MW_OC3Spar_DLL_WTurb_WavesIrr and 5MW_OC3Mnpl_DLL_WTurb_WavesIrr. While these models don’t have structural control enabled, I would suggest starting with these models and adding structural control as you want to them.

Best regards,
