TurbSim FF Formatted and FF Binary results don't match

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a problem with TurbSim. I’m creating both Full-Field Formatted Files (u., v., w. extension) and Full-Field Binary Files (.wnd extension). Now when I use the „readBLgrid“-function to read the .wnd-file I get different velocities than from my FF Formatted Files. How can this be as both datasets are based on the same TurbSim-file?

I read in the User’s Guide that the Binary Files are normalized and I applied the equations given in Appendix E to convert the normalized wind in the FF binary file to velocities in units of meter per second. But the results don’t match either.
Am I missing something here? Can someone tell me how to get the same results?

Dear Laura,

I would double-check your approach. I’m not aware of any problems in TurbSim that would cause inconsistencies between the formatted and binary output files.
