Running AeroDyn v15 (standalone) with FF data

Hello there,

I would like to know if there is any way to pass as an input of a standalone AeroDyn (v15) simulation a full-field wind data generated via TurbSim.

Up to now, I have used it in its standalone mode passing only HH inflow, but I guess that in such simulations, because of the rigid body approximation, the wind is assumed constant across the rotor swept area.

As a follow-up question, if that would not be possible, how could I introduce space-varying effects keeping the simulations as lightweight possible? I need to run it iteratively, which is the very reason why I did not use the full, FAST coupled version, yet.

Many thanks for the help,
Lorenzo

Dear @Lorenzo.Schena,

The new standalone driver for AeroDyn v15 released with OpenFAST v3.1 and newer (https://github.com/OpenFAST/openfast/pull/688) supports in interface to the InflowWind module as well, so, any wind data file type supported by InflowWind (including TurbSim) is usable by this AeroDyn driver.

Best regards,

Perfect, thanks a lot for the support! I am indeed able to couple AeroDyn with a grid of wind data, now.

Many thanks!
