Hello everyone,
When trying to launch a steady wind + regular waves test, I meet the error attached.
Indeed, many ElastoDyn output parameters I chose are said not to be “available output channels”.
First, I conder why, since in the main input file (.fst), I have:
1 CompElast - Compute structural dynamics (switch) {1=ElastoDyn; 2=ElastoDyn + BeamDyn for blades}
1 CompInflow - Compute inflow wind velocities (switch) {0=still air; 1=InflowWind; 2=external from OpenFOAM}
1 CompAero - Compute aerodynamic loads (switch) {0=None; 1=AeroDyn v14; 2=AeroDyn v15}
1 CompServo - Compute control and electrical-drive dynamics (switch) {0=None; 1=ServoDyn}
1 CompHydro - Compute hydrodynamic loads (switch) {0=None; 1=HydroDyn}
0 CompSub - Compute sub-structural dynamics (switch) {0=None; 1=SubDyn}
1 CompMooring - Compute mooring system (switch) {0=None; 1=MAP++; 2=FEAMooring; 3=MoorDyn; 4=OrcaFlex}
0 CompIce - Compute ice loads (switch) {0=None; 1=IceFloe; 2=IceDyn}
…with also WaveMod = 1 in HydroDyn and WindType = 1 with HWindSpeed = 8 in InflowWind.dat.
Maybe I chose too many outputs in ElastoDyn, but I doubt it is because of this.
Do you have any idea please?
Than you in advance!
Bertrand
Dear Bertrand,
Indeed, the inputs listed are not outputs that are available from the ElastoDyn module. You can output the generator power from ServoDyn, the tip-speed ratio from AeroDyn, the wind speeds from InflowWind, and the hydrodynamic loads from HydroDyn. See the respective documentation of each of these modules for more information.
Best regards,
Dear Dr. Jonkman,
Thank you for your quick answer. It was simple after all.
Have a nice day,
Bertrand
Dear Dr. Jonkman,
I have corrected most of this issue after your answer, but I still have a similar warning for the platform loads (PtfmFxi, etc.) while I put them in HydroDyn, it still seems an unavailable output channel in HydroDyn, though I do not have a FATAL error for this reason anymore. The screenshot is also attached in this message.
Also, I then looked at the available output channels in HydroDyn in its manual, but the parameters PtfmFxi, PtfmMyi, etc. dot not appear. Although, there are HydroFxi, HydroMyi, etc. Are those the same parameters in the end?
Thank you for your answer.
Dear Bertrand,
PtfmFxi from FAST v7 was replaced with HydroFxi in the HydroDyn module in FAST v8 (etc. for other load components). They are not identical, but similar. PtfmFxi included both the hydrodynamic loads and mooring loads whereas HydroFxi includes only the hydrodynamic loads (etc. for other load components).
Best regarsds,
Dear Dr. Jonkman,
Thank you for your answer.
Best regards,
Bertrand
