Simulation error for IEA-scaled turbine

Hi,

I am new to OpenFast & is still exploring. I tried to run the model from the location openfast-turbine-models/IEA-scaled/NREL-2.8-127/OpenFAST at master · NREL/openfast-turbine-models · GitHub

But got the following error.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Dear Karthik,

It does not appear that the wind specification is valid in this model. Steady wind is selected via WindType = 1, but HWindSpeed = 0. Change HWindSpeed to a more meaningful wind speed.

Best regards,

Dear Jason,

Thanks a lot for getting back. It helps, the simulation was running but now I stumbled into another error.

When I checked the file NREL-2p8-127_ServoDyn.dat, I could see in the section below the path, “/home/equon/WEIS/local/lib/libdiscon.so” , should I change it some other path?

Also, Is the data in the Bladed Interface needed for OpenFast to run.

Dear @Karthik.Prakash,

The file NREL-2p8-127_DISCON.IN listed as DLL_InFile in the ServoDyn input file appears to be an input file for v2.3 of the ROSCO controller. So, ServoDyn input DLL_FileName should point to your local copy of this ROSCO DLL. You can find precompiled DLLs of various ROSCO releases here: Releases · NREL/ROSCO · GitHub.

Best regards,

can you explain how to read this file if outb is not output file for reading results then how to generate .out file ?

Dear @Muhammad.Irfan,

The OpenFAST output files with extension .outb are binary formatted and cannot be viewed with a text editor. Instead, NREL has provided MATLAB- and Python-based scripts (in the MATLAB Toolbox and OpenFAST Toolbox, respectively), that can be used to read the binary formatted files into memory.

(The advantage of binary files over text files is that they are roughly 1/4 the size.)
