Dear All;
Hi
I am using FAST V8 in simulink to simulate 5 MW WT. There is a problem: Actually,
while simulationg I cannot see wind speed as one of the outputs. what I am observing
is that wind speed is kept constant at zero although simulation is done based upon the wind
speed generated by Turbsim.
It is worth saying I added the symbol to the list in file"NRELOffshrBsline5MW_Onshore_ElastoDyn"
as it is shown in attached herewith.
I would be very appreciated if you can help me.
Best regards
Dear Amirhossein,
TotWindv is not an output available from the ElastoDyn module. In FAST v8, the wind is output from the InflowWind module. See the InflowWind manual for more information: wind.nrel.gov/nwtc/docs/InflowWind_Manual.pdf.
Best regards,
Many thanks for your answer. Another problem is that I could not find primary file related to inflow module.
The one I attached herewith.

Dear Amirhossein,
I’m not sure I understand your question, but the file you pasted a picture of is the primary input file for the InflowWind module.
Best regards,
yes, of course; this is the picture taken from pdf file “InflowWind User’s Guide”.
I am wondering whether I should make this file myself or there exists in some packages
provided by NREL.
Your sincerely
Dear Amirhossein,
Each sample FAST model provided in the CertTest directory of the FAST v8 archive includes a corresponding InflowWind module input file.
Best regards,
Dear Dr Jonkman
thanks
But the main problem is that there is no file related to InflowWind module in the directory
of FAST V8.10 that I am using.
Best regards
Dear Amirhossein,
The InflowWind module was introduced as a core module of FAST v8 in v8.12. Earlier versions of FAST v8 only had limited functionality to access the wind. I suggest upgrading to the newest version of FAST v8, available from: nwtc.nrel.gov/FAST8.
Best regards,
