NREL/CREW Design Codes Workshop in Boulder, Colorado (USA)

Dear All,

NREL and the Center for Research and Education in Wind (CREW) will be holding a workshop on NREL-developed wind turbine design tools on Friday, March 4, 2011, 9am-5pm, on the University of Colorado-Boulder campus, Center for Community, Flatirons room. Through US Department of Energy support, NREL has sponsored the development, verification, and validation of various tools for prediction of wind turbine performance, loads, and response. The workshop will focus on the coupled wind turbine aero-hydro-servo-elastic design tool FAST with AeroDyn and HydroDyn. The workshop will present the basic theory, structure, capabilities, and future plans of this tool and sample simulations will be run to demonstrate its features.

Researchers, faculty, and students from CREW institutions and CREW member companies may attend for free. A nominal fee of $75 (paid by check) will be charged for participants from non-CREW institutions and non-CREW member companies. The workshop is limited to the first 50 registrants so don’t wait and sign up now!

Dear All,

On March 4, 2011, I led a Wind Turbine Design Codes Workshop on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, CO, hosted by the Center for Research and Education in Wind (CREW). The presentations and sample simulations that were given at this workshop are now available from: wind.nrel.gov/public/jjonkman/Pr … BoulderCO/. The presentations and sample simulations provide an overview of the NREL-develepod design tools, with a focus on the capabilities of FAST, AeroDyn, and HydroDyn. Enjoy!

Best regards,
