Monopile Stress calculations

Hi Jason,

I have run the OC3-Monopile (Testcase 19).
Using the load outputs (Newtons) in the substructure, I have calculated the stresses from bending.
However the stresses are as close as 90% of yield for normalized low carbon steel which seems unrealistic.
Do you have any data that I can compare with? (dimensions, geometry, material)

I’m not sure I understand your question, but perhaps I’ve answered it in my response to your question in the following forum topic: Foundation Properties of 5 MW Wind Turbine?

You should understand, though, that the OC3-monopile was specified to be representative, not necessarily structurally optimal. In fact, a detailed load-stress calculation was not done in the “design” process of the OC3-monopile.
