Hello Everyone,
When doing FAST simulation for just Aerodynamics loads, I need to run for different wind velocities.
I understood Aerodyn Airfoil files (which contains cl, cd, cm for different AoA) depend the Reynolds number. And Re number depends Velocity and Chord length.
If I want run simulation for different different wind velocities, should I have to make individual airfoil files for different wind velocities?
e.g If I have ten Airfoil files and three different wind velocities, should I have to make 30 Airfoil files for Aerodyn?
Thanks
Raj
Dear Raj,
I suppose it depends on how sensitive the airfoil you are simulating is dependent on Reynolds number.
Please be aware that FAST/AeroDyn support airfoil data tables with multiple Reynolds, so, you shouldn’t need different files for the same airfoil. Instead, each airfoil file can contain data for multiple Reynolds numbers.
Best regards,
Raj,
Actually, AeroDyn will not support different files for a given blade station. Like Jason said, you can add extra columns to the airfoil tables for different Re to accomplish what you want.

Jason and Marshall,
Thanks for your useful replies.
Multifoil option really saves more time. I hope Fast interpolates the table as per the Re number calculated by it.
Thanks
Raj
Dear Raj,
Yes, AeroDyn will interpolate the airfoil data to the actual Reynolds number.
Best regards,
