Aerodyn standalone version

Dear Florence,

I’m not really sure why you are not getting the thrust and torque you expect. If you simplified your airfoil data down to a single table with AFTabMod = 1, do you get the thrust and torque you expect?

Best regards,

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your answer.
If I use only 1 table with option AFTabMod = 1, I don’t get the expected result. I have tried this selecting the first tab in my airfoil file containing several tables. Also I have generated files with a single table for one given Re.
In all cases, the values for thrust and torque slightly change when changing the Re number and the related tab but they are not the correct expected ones (thrust about a factor 3 to 5 too small and something like a factor 10 too large for the torque, more or less).
Best regards.
Florence.

Dear Florence,

OK, so it does not sound the problem is related to Reynolds-number interpolation of the airfoil data.

Can you clarify why you say the results are not what you expect? What is your reference solution? Other than thrust and torque, are you comparing other quantities?

Best regards,

Hi Jason,
In fact, I am trying to reproduce the results of OC6 phase 3, so I know the values of experimental results and of other participants, at least the trend.
Best regards.
Florence.

Dear Florence,

I had a suspicion that was the case. I would guess that something in your AeroDyn model is not set up properly. I would suggest that you ask Roger Bergua for his AeroDyn model so that you can compare the two.

Best regards,
