Which tip loss model is used in WT_perf

Hi all,

I wonder which tip loss model is used in the WT_perf design code. I can not reproduce the tip loss function in the output file. I use the Prandtl tip loss function. At the root the values are the same. But then the values of the tip loss functions diverge to the tip.

Thanks

Andreas

WT_Perf uses the Prandtl model. Would you please give more details about what you mean by “But then the values of the tip loss functions diverge to the tip.”?

With diverge at the tip I meant that my own code gave other values for the Prandtl tip los function, at the tip, as WT_perf did.
I used the tip loss model from the following paper:

Tip Loss Corrections for Wind
Turbine Computations
Wen Zhong Shen*, Robert Mikkelsen and Jens Nørkær Sørensen

I think that was the reason for the different values at the tip. WT_perf works perfectly well.

Thank you

Andreas

That’s good to know. We’ve been using that tip-loss model for decades! :stuck_out_tongue:
