Hello, when using winds generated by Turbsim, it is required to define the turbulence scaling in the turbsim input file, and that will create a wind file with that specific turbulence. If i want a different turbulence i need to generate a different wind file.
But when using the HAWC format, the scaling parameters are defined in the inflow input file. What is the difference between these two formats? Is it the case that the wind field is losing coherence due to the post-scaling?
Thanks in advance for the clarification

Roberto
The binary TurbSim and HAWC formats are certainly different. However, the big reason why the turbulence scaling is in TurbSim instead of InflowWind for binary TurbSim files is because the binary TurbSim wind data file includes the superposition of the wind profile (shear, veer) and the turbulence. (It wouldn’t make sense to scale the wind profile.) In the HAWC format, only the turbulent fluctuations are stored and the wind profile is generated in InflowWind and superimposed with this turbulence.
Best regards,
Understood! Thank you very much Jason!
