OC4-DeepCwind

Dear all
Is the FAST input files of OC4-DeepCwind model available now.
Best regards,

Dear Liang Li,

The OC4-DeepCwind specifications are currently only available to participants of the IEA Wind Task 30 OC4 project. We will make the model public at the conclusion of the project, which should end later this year.

Best regards,

Dear Jason,

Searching for information I found this topic. Is this OC4 semisub platform available?

Thank you very much for your help,

Best regards,

Dear Fernando,

We will soon release (in a few weeks) an updated version of FAST v8 that will include (among other things) the OC4-DeepCwind semi-submersible as one of the models in the certification test (Test25)

Best regards,

Dear Dr. Jason
Regarding the continuation of the discussion thread, I wanted to request for the input data (primary, tower and platform) of the OC4 semisubmersible if it is available.

We at Osaka university have developed a coupled analysis tool (coupling between FAST v7 and our in-house hydrodynamic structural code) and also validated the same with the help of OC3 Hywind Spar model. We used the UserPtfmLd() subroutine for feeding the platform forces and moments. It is possible to model the floater as a flexible using our developed code.

Now, we want to conduct similar validation for the OC4 semisubmersible model. Could you please help us with the same? Any suggestion for validating with the OC4 semisubmersible is welcome.

Thank you
Best regards
Sharath

Dear Sharath,

Due to the limitations in the hydrodynamic theory implemented in FAST v7, we never built a FAST v7 model of the OC4-DeepCwind semisubmersible. The hydrodynamic functionality of FAST v8 is superior that of FAST v7 and we include a full FAST v8 model of the OC4-DeepCwind semisubmersible as Test25 in the CertTest folder of the FAST v8 archive, which is available from: nwtc.nrel.gov/FAST8.

To verify your new coupled floating wind model of the OC4-DeepCwind semisubmersible, I would suggest that you compare your results to those generated within the IEA Wind Task 30 OC4 Phase II project. A paper summarizing that project has been published: nrel.gov/docs/fy14osti/61154.pdf.

Best regards,

Dear Dr. Jason
Thank you for your kind and clear reply. Now I understand why I could not find Test25 in the CertTest folder of FAST v7. Thank you for letting me know. Also, thank you for your suggestion regarding verification. I will certainly try to incorporate the same.

Thank you for your time.
Best regards
Sharath
