Need some help with aerodyn

Hello all!
For research purposes, I now need to learn the theory of aerodyn in detail as well as view its detailed computational code (fortran language). What files do I need to see?
If you have an up-to-date user manual or other recommended material on aerodyn , please feel free to share it.(I noticed the openfast user manual has been updated recently, and Aerodyn Users Guide was included in the manual. I just wonder if there is a more detailed version manual that dedicated to aerodyn )

Best regards
Tianhui

Dear Tianhui.Liu,

There are several documents and publications pertinent to the theory basis of AeroDyn, but there is not one overarching document that has everything. Also, some of the existing documents are bit outdated as changes have been made to internal implementation plans that are not published, but the corresponding public documents are not all updated. Regardless, here is a list of the pertinent AeroDyn documents. These apply to the newest version of AeroDyn (v15):

There are a couple other documents pertinent to the marine hydrodynamic features of AeroDyn (not applicable to wind turbines) if you are interested in that functionality:

Regarding the source code, AeroDyn v15 follows the requirements of the OpenFAST modularization framework, so, it should be possible to decipher the source code based on the above references (with a few details changed here and there) if you understand that.

Best regards,

Dear Jason
In your previous reply, there were some sites that I couldn’t open (sites ending in html). I thought it was a server problem, so I was going to try again in a few days, but it still wouldn’t work.
But all articles can be easily googled according to the name

In terms of source code, I’m currently looking at aerodyn14. In the latest version of openfast downloaded from github, there is no aerodyn15 in the modules folder, only aerodyn and aerodyn14 folders.
best regards,
Tianhui

Dear Tianhui.Liu,

Sorry about that, here are the correct html links:

AeroDyn v15 is called simply “AeroDyn” in OpenFAST. In fact, we plan to deprecate AeroDyn v14 soon, leaving only AeroDyn (AeroDyn v15) remaining.

Best regards,

Dear Jason
I wonder if there is any introduction about Aerodyn theory at present
In the existing Aerodyn Manual, this section is still blank.(The same is true in Openfast Documentation V3.0)
Or do I need to refer to the theories introduced in the introduction when reading the code
Best regards,
Tianhui

Dear Tianhui,

I sent you links to the relevant user and theory documents in my posts above (dated Jul 22 and Jul 30, 2021). There other other internal implementation plans that have not been published, but the references above provide the basic theory of blade element/momentum theory, unsteady airfoil aerodynamics, free-vortex wake, aeroacoustics, added mass, and cavitation. Is there something specific you are looking for?

Best regards,
