Hello, I have been trying to do a BEM analysis in FAST using the NREL 5MW Baseline in the r-tests and have been looking at the openfast documentation but, I can’t seem to figure out how to correctly implement it. I am creating this thread to see if I could maybe get a simple walkthrough on the process.
Dear @Hayden.Ntungwe,
I’m not sure I understand your question. Are you asking about how BEM is implemented within the AeroDyn module of OpenFAST or how to execute OpenFAST?
Best regards,
Sorry, i’m asking how BEM is implemented within the Aerodyn module of OpenFast. I have used openfast before and have done test cases from different r-tests, but I want to know how to do a BEM analysis through openfast.
Dear @Hayden.Ntungwe,
I’m still now sure if you a asking about the theory basis or usage of AeroDyn. Regardless, please find the AeroDyn documentation on OpenFAST readthedocs here: 4.2.1. AeroDyn Users Guide and Theory Manual — OpenFAST v3.5.0 documentation.
Best regards,
I was referring to the actual usage of Aerodyn and if I can get a step by step walkthrough of using aerodyn with BEM using the NREL 5MW Baseline from the r-tests as the turbine we use.
Dear @Hayden.Ntungwe,
I’m still not sure what exactly you are asking, but a detailed step-by-step guide has not been developed by NREL. I would suggest using the existing documentation, sample models, and workshop materials to learn how to use OpenFAST.
Best regards,
