Hello all,
I want to simulate the dynamic response about the NREL 5MW floating wind turbine in harsh environment.
When the wind speed is above 25 m/s(cut-out wind speed), I want to know which theory the FAST use to calculate the thrust on the rotor.
I have to look up for some book about aerodynamic, but I failed.
Thank you for your reply.
Best Regards.
Dear Allen,
When modeling a wind turbine when it is parked or idling in high winds, we typically disable the controller, fix the blade-pitch angles to 90 degrees, disable dynamic stall, and disable induction (leaving only quasi-steady table look-up aerodynamics based on the goemetric angle of attack). See my Mar 30, 2010 post in the forum topic found here for a detailed list of input settings: Extreme events.
Best regards,
Thank you very much for your helpful reply.
