Structural Control Input Functionality in OpenFAST

Hey,

Is it possible to model springs along the length of the pile using StC input in OpenFAST? I have seen an example of seismic motions applied to the platform using StC in OpenFAST. Can that also include soil-structure interaction as well?

Thanks
Subham

Dear @Kashyap.Subham,

The Structural Control (StC) submodel of ServoDyn supports tuned-mass dampers (TMDs), tuned-liquid-column dampers (TLCDs), and user-defined time-series loads, but StC does not directly support soil-structure interaction or the addition of springs between the structure and the inertial frame. That said, other OpenFAST models can be used to support soil-structure interaction, including the external platform module (ExtPtfm) and SubDyn. Moreover, the new SoilDyn module is scheduled to be released in OpenFAST v4.0: SoilDyn -- soil dynamics module by andrew-platt · Pull Request #986 · OpenFAST/openfast · GitHub.

Best regards,
