Running IEA-15-240-RWT monopile without wind

Hi NREL,
I am trying to run IEA 15 MW wind turbine - with monopile and without Aerodyn and Inflowind - only to measure the response due to regular wave. But I am getting a “co-located end points error” which I am not getting when combined with other modules

Can you please identify what is the problem with my model ?

Thanks,
Ashok

Dear @Ashok.Jammi,

Well, I see in your OpenFAST messages that SubDyn (SD) is reporting an error about large rotations, so, I expect your model is unstable for some reason. I would guess if you could fix the instability, the “co-located” error will go away.

Regards,

But it runs fine when I tried with Inflowind using a small wind speed of 0.01m/s and with Aerodyn and Servodyn enabled. No warning from Subdyn

Dear @Ashok.Jammi,

I’m not sure, but I would be surprised by that. I would first double check that other user inputs were not inadvertently changed. I would also expect very similar results without wind and minuscule wind. Do the two responses match well for the first seconds of the simulation, before the solution without wind goes unstable?

With miniscule wind, there may be a small amount of aerodynamic damping not seen when AeroDyn is disabled, but I wouldn’t expect this would provide enough damping to mitigate an instability.

Best regards,
