thank you for the great work you do in wind turbine design, simulation and research. I have a question about the mode shapes listed in the NREL 5 MW reference document. Is there a way to view them and see how they make the wind turbine and its components sway?

The specifications report for the NREL 5-MW baseline wind turbine does not show the full-system mode shapes, but you can obtain these through an OpenFAST linearization analysis, followed by MB3, eigenanalysis, and visualization. The overall approach is documented here: GitHub - OpenFAST/matlab-toolbox: Collection of Matlab tools developed for use with OpenFAST.
That said, NREL has recently introduced a new application (ACDC) that automates this process: GitHub - OpenFAST/acdc: ACDC: Automated Campbell Diagram Code. I would suggest using ACDC to generate and animate the full-system mode shapes of OpenFAST models.
