Airfoil coefficients data with active flap angles

Hello Everyone,
I’m working on Adaptive Trailing Edge Flap Aerodynamic model(ATEFlap). I’m using the report from DTU on this model as reference. I have implemented the preprocessor required for the ATEFlap model in a objected oriented programming language. I have airfoil data for one aifoil with active trailing edge flaps to verify my preprocessor code. However, I want more such data from other airfoils with trailing edge flaps. I did some research on generating such data and have found a paper “Active Aerodynamic Blade control Design for Load Reduction on Large Wind Turbines”. In this paper they have mentioned ARC2D and CFD tools to generate such data. ARC2D is a commercial software and I’m not too good with CFD. Is there any other way I could generate such data. Any kind of help would be highly appreciated.

Hello Everyone,

I’m patiently waiting for some helpful suggestions of my question. Meanwhile, I would like to present some more information I have gathered. I have generated the airfoil coefficients Cl. Cm and Cd using XFLR5 for flap angles in the range -10 to 10 degrees for the airfoil DU40_17. To validate the results I have first considered the airfoil with zero flap angle. I have used AirfoilPrep to extrapolate the data but the extraolated data is different from original airfoil coefficients data form NREL 5MW wind turbine airfoil data.

Does it the accuracy of the software that results in the deviation of the resuls ? I have read that experimental data is always different from data generated by Xfoil. The major concern is I have peaks in my lift curve.

Kindly provide some suggestions.

Regards,
Chaitanya
