Aerodynamic Thrust Forces in The New Version of AeroDyn

Hello Everybody,

In the previous versions of AeroDyn, there was one output parameter “ForcN” which was the thrust force on the blade elements related to blade1. I wonder whether any new output parameter is added to the new version of AeroDyn, which can give the AeroDynamic thrust forces on the whole rotor. Your guidance is appreciated.

Best Regards
Sara

Dear Sara,

ForcN is still an output in the current version of AeroDyn on our website. We understand that the total aerodynamic thrust (and torque) are deserible outputs to have and we’ll be ensure to include these in the development of the AeroDyn overhaul that is underway. In the meantime, you can use the FAST outputs RotThurst for thrust (and RotTorq for torque), but please be aware that these outputs include structural terms as well (weight, inertia, etc.)

Best regards,

Dear Jason,

Many thanks for your reply. I had another question related to the wind forces, and submitted it in the topic "Rigid Wind Turbine with Harmonic Motions ". I appreciate it if you could help me in that problem as well.

Best Regards
Sara
