Rzero Error

Hi all,

I’m trying to simulate a semisubmergible platform. I changed the wamit input files and the several parameters that concern to the platform. When I execute FAST, the most common error that appears is:

Value of Rzero = XXXX must be smaller than 1 in xphi().

Looking into the code, Rzero = radius of the turbine element/rotor radius.

I cannot understand why this is happening. I’m using the NREL 5MW turbine, so Rzero should be always less than 1.

Dear Fernando,

The RZero error is discussed in the forum topic found here: http://forums.nrel.gov/t/fast-throws-rzero-must-be-1/367/1 (particularly my post dated May 25, 2011). My guess is there is some problem with your model that is making it go unstable, leading to excessive blade deflection that results in the RZero error.
