Electromagnetic torque rippling limits

Dear Mr.Jonkman;

I’m modeling a wind conversion system based on a Hybrid Synchronous Machine using FAST v8.16 and interfacing with Matlab/Simulink.
In such generator, the excitation flux is created by permanent magnets and DC excitation coils. However, the electromagnetic torque rippling may reach 50%, which increases the mechanical stress of the structure. I’m wondering if there is a norm that defines the allowed torque rippling please? To what limits (percentage) I may tolerate this rippling?

Best reagrds.

Dear Hayder,

I’m sorry, but I don’t know the answer to your question. Perhaps someone else on this forum can comment.

Dear Mr.Jonkman;
